The story behind
FleetID

Built to solve a real problem for a real business in the outdoor industry

Where it started

Ruelland Inc is a sales rep agency for ski brands like Rossignol and Dynastar, based in Quebec City. For years, the company ran demo days at ski resorts across the province, lending skis to people so they could try the latest gear on real snow. Every participant signed a paper waiver, left their ID as collateral, and headed for the slopes.

The problem was what came after. Those paper waivers need to be retained for three or more years because if someone gets injured due to an improperly adjusted DIN setting, they have two to three years to file a claim. That means boxes of paper forms stacked in storage, nearly impossible to search, and difficult to manage at scale.

FleetID was built to replace that entire workflow. What started as a digital waiver tool quickly grew into a full platform for managing equipment, events, and participant data across the outdoor industry.

Platform Evolution

From waivers to full fleet management

01

Phase 01

Digital Waivers

An online registration form that auto-calculates DIN settings, captures e-signatures, and stores legally binding digital waivers. Staff can photograph participant IDs on-site instead of holding physical cards as collateral, so no one leaves their license behind.

02

Phase 02

Smart Equipment Tracking

Every piece of equipment gets an NFC tag. Staff tap a ski and scan the participant's QR code to link them instantly. This creates a full history of who tried what, and enables targeted feedback collection that gets sent back to brands to improve their products.

03

Phase 03

Full Fleet Management

Inventory management across multiple locations, team access control with fleet-based permissions, multi-event support, and automated cloud backup of every waiver and record. One platform to run your entire operation.

The Founder

Built by Simon Ruelland

Simon built FleetID to solve a problem he saw firsthand at his family's company. What started as a side project to digitize paper waivers became a full platform used to manage equipment and events across the outdoor industry.
